We are now seeking a Senior Estimator to join the expanding pre-construction team and contribute to continued success.
The Role
As a Senior Estimator, you will play a key role in our pre-construction team, pricing tenders for large-scale civil engineering projects across the UK and Ireland. Reporting to the Estimating Director, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing subcontractor quotations, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure competitive and profitable project proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the preparation of tenders for projects in wind farms, roads, rail, and utilities (NIE/ESB works).
* Research material, labour, and equipment costs to develop comprehensive estimates.
* Prepare and issue supplier and subcontractor packages, assessing received quotations.
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure estimates comply with contractual requirements.
* Work closely with the Bid Manager and Estimating Director to finalise tenders.
* Utilise estimating software (Conquest), take-off packages (Bluebeam), and AutoCAD where necessary.
* Support the business in securing new contracts and expanding into new markets, particularly in Scotland where operations are being established.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in estimating civil engineering projects.
* Strong understanding of civil infrastructure projects, including utilities, substations, and major frameworks.
* Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Project, and take-off packages.
* Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently, demonstrating high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Full UK driving license.
Desirable:
* Experience in estimating for large-scale infrastructure projects (£5M+ range).
* Knowledge of Conquest estimating software.
* Familiarity with frameworks such as SPEN, NIE, ESB, and Translink.
* Civil Engineers with commercial/variations experience looking to transition into estimating will be considered.
