The aim of the Gwent wide Adult Drug and Alcohol Service is to engage drug and/or alcohol users in a continuum of service provision in order to reduce substance related harm and improve functioning in all domains of the service users lives. This includes engaging and assessing service users, brief interventions and harm reduction, outreach, training, case management and aftercare, health promotion, detoxification programmes, needle exchange, maintenance and relapse prevention prescribing and wellbeing services. We serve the population of Gwent (including those who are homeless) within the five local authority areas. The service is provided for adult drug and/or alcohol users aged 18 and over and are provided in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory, professional manner demonstrating courtesy and respect for all individuals. We are seeking empathic and dedicated individuals with experiences from a range of sectors to join us. We welcome people with experience of working not just in substance misuse - but in housing, mental health, primary care, secondary care, youth services, probation and other sectors that have transferable skills. We welcome individuals with their own lived experience of drug and alcohol use and/or mental health and from those who have supported others with lived experience. GDAS is delivered in consortium with 3 of Wales largest substance misuse providers; Kaleidoscope, Barod and G4S. We believe that volunteering has valuable benefits for both GDAS and our volunteers. All GDAS volunteers have access to GDAS’s workforce development programme and have opportunities to gain valuable experience in a range of disciplines including clinical environments, groups and activities, admin support, meeting and greeting, co-facilitating groups, assisting case managers to provide support to vulnerable people, supporting in needle exchanges and providing service delivery such as peer-to-peer naloxone. The Volunteer Coordinator will act as the central point of contact and coordinator for all GDAS volunteers. GDAS attracts a wide range of volunteers from different arenas, including: · Student Placements · Volunteer Counsellors · Pharmacy staff placements · Current Service Users · Family members of Service Users · Prescoed/Parc prison placement volunteers · Community Volunteers · Peer Mentor Volunteers · Social Work Placements · Student Nurses The Volunteer Co-ordinator will ensure that all volunteers are processed, inducted, trained and placed across the appropriate strand of the service. Key Duties and Responsibilities: · Co-ordinating GDAS volunteer recruitment drives – thinking creatively about how we can at volunteers. · Coordinate training plans with GDAS Learning and Development Team · Ensure all volunteers have access to mandatory induction materials · Complete DBS checks and reports are completed in partnership with Kaleidoscope central t · Ensure all GDAS volunteer role profiles are up to date. · Manage any volunteering initiatives/adverts on GDAS social media pages. · Complete volunteer interviews, providing feedback to Learning and Development team. · Maintain an up-to-date data base of all volunteers. · Ensure the timely, professional and accurate recording keeping of volunteer training packag · Attend and assist the management team meetings · Monitor volunteer expenses and budgets, assisting volunteers to access PLATO (HR system) Assist in the co-ordination of volunteer recognition events · Complete monthly check ins in the first 3 and 6 weeks to aid transition to supervisor and check placement progress against the volunteer expectations. · Provide support to wider GDAS staff in the management of volunteers · Manage and co-ordinate volunteer exit interviews/termination · To monitor and create reports on the success of volunteer placements · To co-ordinate Annual volunteer surveys and seek out volunteer feedback in order to improve our volunteer experience.
