Radii Architectural Glass specialises in the design and installation of complex structural and architectural glazing solutions. Our expertise includes atriums, lift lobbies, glass staircases, balustrades, external curtain walling, structural glass façades, and fire-rated doors and glazing systems.
We are looking for a Design Manager to join our experienced team, working across a range of high-spec commercial building projects. Full training and support will be provided to help the successful candidate grow and progress within the role.
Purpose of the Role
To manage the production of design and technical documentation for architectural glazing projects from award to final account. The role involves using specialist software (AutoCAD and Revit/BIM) to create accurate 2D and 3D fabrication drawings and models.
Key Responsibilities
1. Use AutoCAD and Revit (BIM) to create 2D and 3D technical drawings for fabrication and installation.
2. Work independently under the guidance of the Design Department Manager, managing timelines to meet project deadlines.
3. Consider buildability, safety, cost, and access during the design process.
4. Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with client specifications.
5. Ensure all drawings meet acoustic, fire, and other relevant technical requirements.
6. Follow client drawing protocols and manage uploads to project portals.
7. Maintain drawing registers, door/screen schedules, and other project deliverables.
8. Coordinate with main contractors, architects, engineers, and suppliers.
9. Attend external design coordination meetings.
10. Produce fabrication drawings and technical submissions.
11. Follow internal design processes and maintain up-to-date project files.
12. Understand and adhere to company policies on Health & Safety, Quality, Environment, and Data Protection.
Person Specification
1. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a design role within architectural glazing or commercial partitioning.
2. Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit (BIM).
3. Comfortable working with architectural plans, manufacturing drawings, and requisitions.
4. Solid understanding of setting out from gridlines and datums.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
6. High attention to detail in both 2D and 3D drawings.
7. Strong communication skills; well-organised and efficient.
8. Self-motivated with a positive attitude and ability to work with minimal supervision.
9. Keen interest in design and personal development within the role.
10. Passionate about architecture and contributing to the growth of the division.
Qualifications & Requirements
1. Proficient in AutoCAD; strong IT skills including Excel and Microsoft Office.
2. Revit (BIM) experience highly desirable.
3. Full UK driving licence required.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 9.00am – 5.30pm
Friday: 9.00am – 5.00pm
(One-hour lunch break each day)
