Clinical Specialist Practitioner - Infection Prevention and Control
Are you passionate about Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)? If yes, here's an exciting opportunity for you! We're looking for a dedicated Clinical Specialist to join our IPC team.
The Clinical Specialist Practitioner Infection Prevention & Control is an integral member of the clinical infection prevention and control service. As a band 6, the post holder will receive training in a broad base of infection prevention and control practice to enable the successful candidate to carry out principal clinical roles. In this position, you will have the chance to:
1. Implement and monitor IPC policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and well-being.
2. Provide guidance and support to staff on IPC best practices, including hand hygiene, isolation protocols, and environmental cleaning.
3. Conduct audits and surveillance activities to assess compliance with IPC standards and identify areas for improvement.
4. Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver IPC training and education programs.

Main duties of the job
* Provide specialist advice to professional, ancillary, and support staff on the care of individual or groups of patients, either with infection or at risk of developing infection.
* Explain the significance of laboratory reports to hospital staff and relate clinical information to laboratory staff when required.
* In liaison with senior members of the Infection Prevention and Control Team, investigate outbreaks of hospital infection, focusing on their source and mode of spread, and advise on relevant control measures. Communicate information to team members and relevant staff.
* Develop cooperation from staff and strategies for overcoming barriers to understanding.
* Ensure the implementation of best practices in infection prevention and control using problem-solving and facilitation of change.
* Assist in developing audit surveillance and other key indicators for infection prevention and control policies and practices.
* Assist in collecting and analyzing relevant data for the Infection Prevention and Control Team.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* Degree or equivalent in nursing or allied health science
* Mentorship/teaching qualification and experience
* Infection Prevention and Control Qualification
* Evidence of recent professional development
* Experience as an infection prevention and control link practitioner
Experience
* Managing a ward/department regularly (minimum)
* Informal and formal teaching experience
* Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Experience as an infection prevention and control practitioner
Skills
* Knowledge of current issues in healthcare and infection control
* Knowledge of evidence-informed and research-based practice
Special Circumstances
* Ability to travel to other sites
* Ability to work in various environments and adapt to different conditions

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum (pro rata for part-time roles)
