We are looking to recruit a Legal Cashier for a highly regarded law firm based in Hoylake, Wirral.
This is an exciting opportunity with support available for those looking to take further specific legal accounts examinations through the ILFM.
The main purpose of the role is to provide finance and administrative support to the Practice Manager in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
1. Posting of receipts and payments to office and client account ensuring all VAT entries correctly allocated.
2. Checking and posting of all bills.
3. Checking and dealing with all administration on weekly LAA BACS statements.
4. Calculating and preparation of costs for monthly LAA contract claims including the analysis of new matter starts for the bulk load submission.
5. Purchase ledger administration.
6. Preparing costing information on files as requested by fee earners including calculation of various stages of case plans.
7. Petty cash entries and reconciliations.
8. Checking expense claims.
Skills, knowledge and experience required:
1. Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade B/5 or above.
2. Computerised accountancy experience preferably within legal environment.
3. Experience of Sales and Purchase ledger, billing and some credit control.
4. Good communication skills both written and verbal.
5. Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
6. Good IT and keyboard skills particularly with Excel spreadsheets.
7. Ability to understand client ledgers and double entry bookkeeping.
8. Capable of using own initiative.
9. Honest, reliable, hardworking and good team player.
10. Mature outlook and flexible attitude to work.
11. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
