Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic, inspiring and dedicated clinician to bring enthusiasm and innovation to our Community Dental Service. The post is a permanent post for 15 hours per week. The successful applicant will be required to work across various sites dependent on service needs.
The purpose of the role is to support the provision of high-quality clinical care to adults or children in line with the Welsh Health Circular (WHC/2022/22) The Role of the Community Dental Service and Services for Vulnerable People.
The Community Dental Service is a dynamic team providing the full range of community dentistry and you would be working alongside other dentists, including specialists in Special Care and Paediatric dentistry, dental therapists and hygienist. Development of personal professional interests which match those of the Community Dental Service will be encouraged.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to treat a wide range of patients. The service is currently involved with supervision of Dental Core Trainees Years 1 and 2. This would suit applicants who enjoy the prospect of developing learning in other dental professionals.
The CDS also runs the Welsh Government oral health improvement initiative, 'Designed to Smile', Gwen am Byth and epidemiology surveys in these areas.
Previous Community Dental experience is desirable, however an understanding of patients' needs with conditions such as Dementia, Autism, Learning Disabilities and medically compromised patients is essential.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are required along with a flexible approach towards work.
A driving licence is essential as there will be occassions when the post holder will be required to work in fixed clinics, on mobile dental units or provide domiciliary care.
