Job overview
Working as a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist in our Community CAMHS Learning Disability Team involves working with children and young people who are diagnosed with moderate to severe learning disabilities, their families, carers, and staff teams, including schools and other health and social care professionals. You will be part of a Professional specialist Multi Disciplinary team, where hearing the voice of the child or young person means we take a person-centred approach to improving quality of life, emotional wellbeing and reducing challenging behaviours. Liaison, supervision, formulation, and consultation are key parts of this role, and the post holder will have opportunities to develop a diverse range of skills. Responsibilities include assessment, formulation, and intervention for children with additional mental health needs. Our Community team facilitates learners from all clinical disciplines, providing valuable experience with opportunities for learning, teaching, supervising, and involvement in research, service development, and innovation. We pride ourselves on excellent teamwork because we are passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children with learning disabilities.
Main duties of the job
To provide a clinical psychology service to children and adolescents and their families with complex psychological problems, across all sectors of care, through supportive and professional Multi Disciplinary working. The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and therapy while offering advice and consultation on psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and other non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and supervision and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
