Overview
Stirling Dynamics is recruiting Safety Engineers with marine (defence/military) experience to join the Systems and Safety team.
Due to upcoming projects and supporting continued growth, Stirling Dynamics is looking for talented Safety Engineers across Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer grades to join our Systems & Safety team supporting key defence/military projects in the marine systems engineering domain.
Roles could be based in our Bristol offices, or remotely (depending upon experience), with occasional travel to our clients’ sites as required. As part of our commitment to flexibility, employees will be able to work from home for part of the week should they wish to (subject to approval).
Responsibilities
As part of the Systems and Safety team, the Safety Engineers will be responsible for the delivery of systems safety support to our business and our clients which will include activities such as:
* Providing safety input to bid, internal/external design review and/or certification related activities
* Guiding the safety programme requirements
* Collation of evidence and deliverables to support product safety argument generation
* Hazard identification & control
* Detailed analyses of complex systems using fault tree methodology
* Production of safety case reports
* System level analyses, integrating multiple sub-system inputs
* Platform loss modelling, integrating multiple system level analyses
* Zonal safety assessments (ZSA)
* Common mode / cause analyses (CMA/CCA)
* Particular risk analyses (PRA)
Qualifications
Candidates will ideally be degree qualified, in a related discipline, and be experienced in aerospace/military/defence related systems safety engineering principles, processes and standards.
Specific skills/knowledge/experience should include subjects such as:
* Surface ship/submarine systems safety
* Hazard Logs and analysis activities including: HAZID, HAZOP, FHA
* Defence Standards e.g. 00-055, 00-056, 02-207
* Mil Std e.g. 882E
* Analysis techniques such as: FTA, ETA, FMEA, FMES
* Production of safety documentation such as PSSA, SSA, PRA etc.
* International standards e.g. IEC 61508, IEC 62368
* Working within a quality system environment, such as AS9100, ISO9001
* The ability to lead activities within a team
* Work package creation, management and delivery
Essential skills

Experience
* Experience in complex systems development (Aerospace and/or Defence industries)
* Experience of the full system development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, validation, verification, integration)
Benefits
Competitive Package - Grade 4 - 7, £36,000 - £65,000 dependent on experience.
Hourly rates for contractors will be dependent on experience.
