Role Overview
We’re seeking a proactive and results-driven Production Chemist to join our client. You'll be the crucial link between R&D and manufacturing, helping to deliver innovative formulations into full-scale production, working side-by-side with production teams, tackling challenges head-on, and continuously improving product quality and processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate closely with R&D, Blending, and Production teams to develop, trial, and implement new formulations.
2. Manage the full product development cycle — from lab testing to pilot trials to full production — ensuring consistency, efficiency, and quality.
3. Support production teams by troubleshooting formulation and manufacturing issues to minimize downtime and improve 'Right First Time' performance.
4. Organize regular technical meetings with production staff to share updates, drive communication, and encourage feedback.
5. Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, product quality, and operational efficiencies.
6. Prepare samples, conduct laboratory tests, and coordinate external testing for new developments.
7. Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
8. Propose new methods to improve formulations, reduce waste, and optimize production processes.
About You
* Degree-qualified in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
* Experience in a chemistry-related role within manufacturing, ideally with cleaning products, chemicals, or similar sectors.
* Strong wet chemistry skills and understanding of blending processes, raw materials, and scale-up from lab to production.
* Problem-solver who embraces challenges and proposes practical solutions.
* Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues.
* Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
Desirable Skills
* Experience scaling up products from laboratory to manufacturing.
* Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and process improvement methodologies like LEAN or Six Sigma.
* SAP experience for production support.
