We are looking for enthusiastic bank sonographers to join our small, forward-thinking friendly Ultrasound department here at the James Paget University Hospital.
Applicants must possess a Postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in Ultrasound and must be registered with the HCPC or other relevant professional body. Recent NHS experience is required and all applicants must meet the requirements of the role. The role is open to UK residents only.
Sessions undertaking general medical, gynaecological, musculoskeletal and obstetric (week-days only) examinations are available depending on expertise and experience.
There is an active training programme in place within the department that all staff are involved in. The Ultrasound Department has BMUS endorsement for its preceptorship programme, one of a few departments across the country. We have a good support network from our Radiology colleagues and provide CPD activities within the department.
The Trust opened its Community Diagnostic Centre in 2024 which offers a 7 day, 8am-8pm service to the local population. As there is a requirement to provide ultrasound sessions in the CDC, evening and weekend sessions are available should you wish.
Some of the main duties of the job are as follows:
* To undertake a clinical commitment working to the department protocols and scanning guidelines providing a patient-focused service.
* To ensure that the highest standards are delivered within the resources available to the department.
* To work closely with other professionals within the clinical team to maintain the highest standards of service provision.
* To work closely and collaboratively with those Directorates to whom a service is provided.
The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of around 230,000 people in the Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Waveney areas. The James Paget University Hospital is situated on the Norfolk and Suffolk border with the Norfolk Broads and a fine coastline all nearby.
The Trust performs well in staff satisfaction surveys and has good retention of staff across the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The Trust provides an integrated hospital and community children’s service.
We want to attract the best and brightest people to work with us and that means we will look after you from the moment you apply for a role at the Trust and throughout your career with us. Our staff are central to everything we do, and we believe that investing in you is crucial if we want to enable you to reach your full potential.
