As a Life Coach Volunteer, you will provide valuable help by sharing your time and expertise with participants to discuss and progress through barriers they may be facing whilst they are receiving support from one of our programmes. We operate charitable social enterprises and retail shops, and work alongside Shaw Education Trust, which runs a diverse chain of academy schools. We add value to every service we deliver by investing back into community projects, such as our social enterprises, Community Hubs and national volunteering scheme. Volunteers help us achieve our aim of empowering people and supporting them towards employment and/or helping with their mental health and wellbeing. They also help in our schools and Social Enterprises and they help us run our charity shops too. What are we looking for? Have an empathic approach. Adaptable to meet the needs of a wide range of participants. Good interpersonal and communication skills. IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office software. Ability to facilitate group sessions. Confident acting independently and providing remote support. Able to volunteer as part of an extended team. Understanding of data protection and GDPR. Awareness of barriers faced by participants who have faced disadvantages such as disabilities, care leavers and mental ill health. What will you be doing? This role could include Encourage participants to identify and evaluate their barriers to employment and set actions to overcome them. Teach SMART action planning and empower participants to take accountability of their goals. Apply a person-centered approach working with participants on a one-to-one basis across several sessions. Motivating participants with constructive feedback and positive affirmations throughout the process. Demonstrate useful self-help, emotional and behavioural regulation techniques, to support participants in managing their wellbeing. Giving personalised one-to-one support and assisting participants in achieving their wellbeing goals. Taking a person-centred and solution-focused approach with participants on a one-to-one basis across several sessions. Creating a safe and supportive environment to foster positive outcomes. Appropriately signposting participants to local activities/resources.
