Tachmed are aiming to bring to market a disruptive Point of Care Medical Device system which provides fast, accurate results at the point of use. The system will be manufactured via subcontract manufacturing and the role of the Supply Chain Manager will be critical in the establishment of an effective and efficient Supply Chain providing a consistent and resilient supply to our customers.
As the Supply Chain Manager will be primarily responsible for the ongoing procurement and negotiations of materials, components, equipment, supplies and services that meet the quality standards of the company. You will assume full responsibility for planning requirements and supply chain management to ensure timely (scheduled) deliveries of goods and services within budget and/or standard costs. You will rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
The role reports directly to the COO.
At the moment we are a fully remote business but in order to support future plans the role will be based in either Nottingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dublin depending on the right candidate.
Responsibilities
1. Plan and procure materials, components, equipment, supplies and services necessary for the operation of the company in line with the Sales Inventory and Operations Planning forum to deliver the business plan.
2. Plan, schedule, and monitor goods and services to meet the production requirements of the company.
3. Check requisitions and develop material plans, share forecasts, contact and evaluate sources, examine quotations and make awards.
4. Set up and maintain material, supplier, and planning system data in the Tachmed operating system.
5. Determine material requirements and change notices from suppliers to derive cost-effective supply management and avoid obsolescence and scrap.
6. Identify and evaluate sources of supply consistent with quality and quantity requirements of the company and develop the standard cost profile for the business.
7. Evaluate bids consistent with the total cost of ownership.
8. Establish goals and objectives that support the department and company objectives. Follow up on objectives to ensure compliance.
9. Work with receiving, finance and suppliers to reconcile discrepancies in receiving and invoicing.
10. Develop, implement and support sourcing and supplier management initiatives and work with Quality to address any supplier non-conformances and deviations or CAPA.
11. Negotiate pricing, delivery, lead-time, etc., with suppliers and partners.
12. Conduct business by using appropriate judgment for actions, maintaining a high standard of work behaviors (including refraining from soliciting or accepting gifts, prejudicial discounts, entertainment, favors, or services from present or potential suppliers that might influence or appear to influence purchasing decisions).
13. Ensure that the highest quality standards are maintained in all functions & responsibilities of the job as well as executed in a manner which supports the company's quality standards.
14. Maintain metrics.
15. Support Lean activities and initiatives.
16. Support EHS activities and initiatives.
17. Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.
Requirements
1. 5+ years of material buying and planning in a manufacturing setting.
2. Previous experience in a Medical Device Manufacturing environment is an asset.
3. Experience with Sales and Operations Planning MRP / ERP systems.
4. Experience in electromechanical product engineering environment.
5. Experience in supply chain management and inventory control.
6. Demonstrated negotiation skills.
7. Proficiency in MS Office products (especially Word, Excel, Visio and Project).
8. Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
9. Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate with technical and non-technical teams.
10. Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with external partners.
11. Must be a highly motivated self-starter.
12. Must be organized and able to balance multiple priorities appropriately.
13. Must be goal-focused and committed to completing tasks.
14. Logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability.
15. Detail-oriented, highly motivated, patient and diligent.
16. MCIPS (preferred) or Degree in Supply Chain Management.
