Deputy Director of Policy
Remote Working / Home based: with some time in-person at our Leicester HQ and significant travel to London and across the UK.
Salary: starting from £68,259.

The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) is the leading professional association and trade union for all school and college leaders. We support and represent more than 25,000 members throughout the UK in primary, secondary and post-16 education.
Due to our exciting growth and expansion plan, ASCL is seeking to appoint a Deputy Director of Policy. This role will report to the Senior Director of Strategy, Policy and Professional Development Services.

This role will support the Senior Director of Strategy, Policy and Professional Development Services as one of two Deputy Directors of Policy, overseeing the Association’s policy influencing work in areas including:
1. Curriculum
2. Assessment
3. Inspection
4. SEND
5. Data and Accountability
You will manage a team of highly experienced policy specialists, lead on specific areas of policy as required, and sit on ASCL’s extended leadership group.
The successful candidate will be a thought leader, skilled at gathering and representing the views of ASCL’s diverse membership. You will have a deep knowledge of the school and college landscape and education policy-making. You will be a clear communicator, persuasive influencer, and effective manager and colleague.
This role is paid on a five-point incremental range from £68,259 – £75,310 per annum. Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses are covered, including a working from home allowance. This is a home-based role, with significant travel required to London, ASCL HQ in Leicester, and across the UK.
