A Composites Stress Engineer is required to join an engineering team who are working on the design and development of light helicopters for the global market. The company designs, develops, and manufactures their products in the UK.
With extensive financial backing and a growing order book, they are seeking to grow their engineering team and require Composites Stress Engineers to join their team.
The Composites Stress Engineer will drive current and future aircraft programmes forward, sharing in the company's success. You will work within the composites team being responsible for the stress analysis, optimization, verification, and approval of aircraft composite structures.

As Composites Stress Engineer - you will be required to:
1. Work with the Chief Composites Engineer and technical specialists to develop composite design schemes and detailed designs of aircraft parts and assemblies.
2. Develop static and rotating structural components.
3. Develop complex composite parts, laminate & core schemes, bonded assemblies, metallic inserts, patterns, and tools.
4. Create simulation models to analyse the airframe components and sub-systems using analysis methods ranging from initial scoping calculations to 2D and 3D FEA models.
5. Build and analyse mechanical models of static and rotating components using 2D and 3D FEA.
6. Carry out assessment and optimization of static structural strength, modal and forced response and impact scenarios.
7. Carry out detailed composite FEA and optimization.
8. Technical assessment of the component life and integrity through the design phase, into testing, verification, validation, certification, and in-service support.
9. Crack propagation and damage tolerance assessments of aircraft critical parts.
10. Define, plan, support and analyse rig testing to verify and validate the design and achieve certification.
As Composite Stress Engineer - you will have:
1. BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with relevant analysis experience.
2. FEA mechanical analysis experience.
3. Good understanding of transient thermal loads in hot components and load interactions.
4. Experience in rig testing and verification is desirable.
5. Experience with damage tolerance assessments is desirable.
6. Team-orientated, problem-solving attitude.
