In this role, you will work closely with the Climate Change and Carbon Manager to support emissions reporting, track progress against our net zero targets, and ensure our emissions reduction activities align with the company’s broader net zero strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Collation and Validation: Gather and validate data to estimate Affinity Water’s overall carbon footprint.
2. Collaboration with Business Performance Team: Work with the Business Performance and Insight team to utilize the outputs from the Water Sector’s Carbon Accounting Workbook to estimate operational greenhouse gas emissions.
3. Emissions Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, following external standards and ISO14064 verification.
4. Net Zero Strategy: Drive continuous improvement in the company's net zero strategy, focusing on enhancing project emissions reporting.
5. Emissions Reduction: Collaborate with the Climate Change and Carbon Manager to analyze emissions reports and promote emissions reduction initiatives across the business.
6. Tracking Progress: Assist in tracking and reporting progress on achieving Net Zero targets.
7. Engagement and Carbon Literacy: Engage with colleagues across the business to shape future emissions reduction strategies and promote carbon literacy.
8. Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to internal governance structures that oversee emissions reduction and the net zero strategy.
9. Industry Engagement: Participate in discussions at conferences, events, and through publications to contribute to the wider industry’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Essential Criteria:
1. Education: Degree in a relevant field.
2. Data Handling: Experience with data collation, validation, and analysis.
3. Excel Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
4. Communication: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
5. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across various disciplines.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Project Administration: Experience in managing projects and programs.
2. Environmental Affiliation: Membership or affiliation with an environmental management body.
3. Climate Risk Management & Net Zero: Experience in managing climate risks and knowledge of Net Zero strategies.
4. Technical Presentation: Ability to summarize and present complex technical information.
5. Pace: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
6. Full UK Driving License: Desirable for some aspects of the role.
