Description
A world renowned multi-disciplinary are looking for a Highways Design Engineer in Central London to join a team of of 6 engineers and technically produce Civil 3D designs of Enabling works, highway alignments, junction improvements and roundabout designs.
This role is with an award winning global consultancy's Central London office that has a fantastic benefits package that includes yearly bonus, 8% non-contributory pension, 25 days annual leave (option to buy 5 more) and many more corporate benefits.
You will be joining an award winning multidisciplinary that work on some of the best projects in the UK, schemes like Paddington Lawn, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Albert Hall where you will be designing the public roads and routes into these landmarks.
Highways Engineer Responsibilities
1. Working on challenging projects, you will have experience of several aspects of preliminary and detailed design of public highways including geometry, drainage, pavements and other elements of highway schemes.
2. You will have a keen interest in developing your understanding and ability in civil engineering design and a willingness to research and take on new challenges.
3. To be able to work independently and use your engineering judgement to tackle day to day problems, while keeping project managers informed of your progress.
4. You will understand the multi-disciplinary nature of complex projects from planning stage, through to completion and a willingness to understand more about other disciplines roles on projects.
5. You will understand the importance of working with different types of client in a complex industry - our clients include developers, local authorities and contractors, all of whom have different expectations and requirements from you and the projects you will work on.
Highways Engineer Experience Required.
6. An ability to use design software packages Civil 3D and MicroDrainage and a bonus would be InfraDrainage
7. A good understanding of highway design
8. A willingness to delegate design responsibility to others and act in a mentoring role to less experienced staff
9. Willingness to develop an outward facing capacity as a design team representative in dealings with clients on Technical Matters
10. Good communicator, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances.
11. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
12. A 'self-starter' with drive, positivity and enthusiasm and a strong desire to succeed.
