IR35: To be determined Our client has a requirement for a Lead Civil & Structural Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester. Role Purpose: The successful candidate will take a leadership role within a multi-disciplinary engineering team. They will be responsible for providing technical leadership and delivering civil and structural analysis, calculations, reports, and specifications for projects. Additionally, they will ensure that multi-disciplinary engineering delivery remains on schedule and within budget. Key collaboration disciplines include Electrical, Mechanical, and Process Engineering. Job Role Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and oversight in civil and structural engineering. Deliver cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and can be safely constructed and commissioned. Lead and guide engineering teams, offering technical direction and approval of output. Forecast resource requirements for engineers, designers, and specialists. Ensure the application of standard safe practices across projects. Provide cost estimates and feedback for the proposals department. Work within established procedures and processes to enhance department operations. Ensure design coordination across disciplines, both internal and external, to optimize contract delivery. Maintain comprehensive files and records throughout project lifecycles. Support project controls by managing activities and budgets, identifying changes, and ensuring compliance with processes. Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications: Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Civil & Structural design, with at least 5 recent years in the Oil & Gas industry. Experience in new and historic structures, optioneering assessments, defining scopes of work, supporting estimates, and business development. Proven track record in Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, Delivery, Commissioning, and Handover of projects. Seismic Design experience preferred. Ability to support delivery teams throughout construction and handover phases. Willingness to undertake ad hoc site visits as required. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Membership of a professional institution (chartered or near chartership). Strong understanding of Process Safety and CDM regulations. Experience working within the NEC suite of contracts.
