Job Title: Waking Nights - Residential Support Worker Location: Barnoldswick Contract: Permanent, Part-Time (Regular shifts averaging 28 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours) Hours: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am, following 2 nights on, 2 nights off rota pattern Salary: £13.00 – £13.50 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications) Benefits: 28 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays), career progression opportunities, and additional benefits. Role Summary: We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Waking Night Residential Support Worker to join our team at our children’s home in Barnoldswick. In this role, you will provide essential overnight care and supervision for children and young people, ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing throughout the night. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, responding to any overnight needs, and ensuring smooth handovers to the day team. Key Responsibilities: Child-Cantered Care: Provide consistent, compassionate overnight care and supervision, ensuring children's emotional and physical needs are met in a calm and reassuring manner. Night-Time Safety & Support: Monitor the home throughout the night, respond to incidents or emergencies, and ensure the environment remains safe and secure. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records, including nightly logs and handovers for day staff, to ensure continuity of care. Light Household Duties: Assist with routine tasks such as tidying communal areas and preparing the home for the next day. Compliance: Adhere to care plans, safeguarding procedures, risk assessments, and company policies to maintain a compliant and safe environment. Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, providing clear and thorough handovers, and contributing to a supportive team environment. Essential Qualifications and Experience: Experience: Previous experience in a residential care setting is preferred, especially working with children or young people. Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Care is preferred but not essential — training opportunities are available for the right candidate. DBS: Enhanced DBS check with Children’s Barred List is required. Candidates must be registered with the DBS Update Service, or willing to subscribe. Skills: Strong communication skills, emotional resilience, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Right to Work: Must have the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
