Required Responsibilities
1. Act as a safety partner by intervening when unsafe acts are practiced. Promote and demonstrate safe behavior and practices. Assist Site and QSE management in determining RCAs and corrective actions for investigations.
2. Complete all safety training assigned. Act as a resource for junior technicians when questions arise.
3. Utilize all PPE as required by Work Instructions and QSE Manual. Provide input regarding any discrepancies found in Work Instructions or PPE sheets.
4. Support continuous improvement activities, including the development of best practices.
5. Build and maintain effective internal partnerships. Refer complex issues or customer inquiries to higher-level technical staff or management, always demonstrating good customer focus to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
6. Fully navigate and input all required data through MyTime, MyTask, and different cost allocations (e.g., SO's).
7. Access and use online tools (e.g., Toolkit, SAP, VOB, VGA, VIS, VTM).
8. Understand how dashboard metrics impact the site (alarms, warnings, fleet, service orders, labor efficiency, etc.).
9. Navigate and utilize Insite Toolbox.
10. Perform basic troubleshooting and mentorship.
11. Follow Work Instructions and propose adjustments or improvements as needed (e.g., PTP).
12. Manage TSL and CIR entry and follow-up.
13. Support specialty jobs (e.g., crane work, CIM projects).
14. Utilize available tools for growth and learning, supporting team development.
15. Promote a positive team environment across departments. Assist teammates in achieving operational goals and mentor lower-level staff.
Qualifications Required
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum two (2) years of technical wind industry experience OR in the absence of wind experience, at least three (3) years of experience in hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, or composite skills. Alternatively, 2 years of wind experience plus a Wind Technician program certificate.
3. Internal candidate training/certificate requirements: LOTO II, D-Service, TBC Core 100 & 200, and Turbine specific 100 & 200.
4. External candidates must complete required training within 6 months.
5. Intermediate knowledge of industrial safety practices (e.g., Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out).
6. Understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and related tooling.
7. Valid driver's license required.
8. Ability to obtain a passport is preferred.
9. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
10. Ability to interpret basic drawings and schematics.
11. Willingness to embrace diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, aligning with Vestas' core values.
Competencies Required
1. Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 125 meters (400 feet).
2. Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
3. Walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend regularly.
4. Handle repetitive manual tasks with hand tools and turbine parts.
5. Work in demanding physical and weather conditions.
6. Work remotely in turbines with limited supervision.
7. Maintain total weight at or below 300 lbs while wearing PPE.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
9. Reliable attendance.
10. Valid Driver's License.
