Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
1. HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
2. IBMS accredited degree acceptable to the HCPC
3. IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology or equivalent
4. Relevant qualification to Masters level or HCS Apprenticeship level 7 or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or equivalent
5. City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Cervical Cytology or the NHSCSP Certificate in Cervical Cytology
Desirable Criteria
1. Health and Safety related qualification
2. Quality/UKAS/ISO related qualification
3. Training qualification
4. Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science
Knowledge & Experience
Essential Criteria
1. Proven experience in Cervical Cytopathology
2. Proven leadership and supervisory experience
3. Extensive experience of the ISO 15189 standards and service provision
4. A broad knowledge of current methodology and developments
5. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working within a Quality Management System
6. Evidence of accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable Criteria
1. A broad knowledge of current developments in the NHS
2. A thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation
3. A thorough understanding of ISO accreditation
4. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of managing a Quality Management System
5. Knowledge and understanding of screening incidents and their investigation
