About the Role
The Senior Controls Engineer will lead the implementation of battery energy storage systems (BESS) capable of ultra-fast response to dispatch commands and grid supply variations. This position requires a candidate with expertise in power systems, utility generation, protection, and transmission systems, as well as modern industrial networks and utility communication protocols.
Key Responsibilities
* Drafting and negotiating technical requirements for fast response BESS plant controllers.
* Managing stakeholders, utilities, and suppliers of fast response controllers for design and deliverables.
* Verifying testing and commissioning of new advanced BESS plant controllers.
* Mentoring team members and supervising work processes to ensure development of high-quality deliverables to meet timeline and budget commitments.
* Developing new tools, implementing processes, providing feedback, and working with other stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of the technology/engineering/delivery value stream.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Domain experience in solar PV or battery energy storage.
* Proficiency in Digital-Twin software engineering.
* Expertise in model-based control software development.
* Experience with power grid, power generation, and/or renewable integration control.
* Experience with utility market applications.
* Experience with DigSilent PowerFactory, EMTP, or other power systems modeling tools.
* Git workflow expertise.
* Linux experience.

* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* 12+ years' experience in renewable energy specific to energy storage.
