This is an exciting opportunity to join the Safeguarding Adults Team at WNC. The Team is responsible for ensuring we have an effective and responsive approach to managing safeguarding alerts raised by individuals and organisations.
The Team is responsible for managing safeguarding's at the front door making robust decisions as to the actions that need to be taken, as well as ensuring where it does not meet the safeguarding criteria we respond with information and guidance on alternative pathways. In addition, the Team are responsible for leading on S42 enquiries where an organisation is the alleged source of risk, undertaking all actions to ensure the risks identified are reduced or removed and plans support this.

What will you be doing?
The Team support the Safeguarding Hub that are responsible for managing the front door providing the initial response to a concern. This role will work specifically at the front door ensuring that we provide a prompt and robust decision making to keep people safe. The role will mainly be supporting in the triage of referrals relating to Community activity.
Providing support on identifying the proportionate response required and identify the most appropriate pathway in order to achieve a positive outcome for the person. Make threshold decisions about Safeguarding concerns and lead Safeguarding Enquiries, implementing West Northants Adult Safeguarding Policy and Procedures whilst applying the principles of making safeguarding personal and taking positive risks where appropriate. Be accountable for managing and monitoring a workload of complex cases involving risk and organise work activities taking in account the need to prioritise tasks and responsibilities. Ensuring effective management of any crisis situations and carry out work on the Safeguarding Duty system. Provide a high quality, responsive service in all areas, using a critical knowledge and practical experience of a range of theories and models of social work interventions with individuals, families, groups and communities and the methods derived from them. Use and review timely and appropriate social work interventions that are best suited to the person and their carers. Undertaking person-centred assessments where required, to co-create risk plans using an asset-based approach to ensure outcomes are achieved.
About you
The role is challenging as you will need to be able to manage the fluctuating demands from the front door in numbers and complexity of concerns, be able to make decisions effectively and responsively on safeguarding issues and identify the pathway that will mitigate or reduce the risks that people are facing from potential abuse and/or neglect. If you are passionate about adult social care, have a social work qualification/equivalent and are registered with Social Work England, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for individuals with a proactive, innovative approach who can problem solve creatively, and have a passion for fostering the strengths of individuals. You will play a crucial role in conducting timely assessments, developing support plans, and implementing support in accordance with the Care Act 2014. Strong communications skills will be essential, as you'll be working collaboratively with a wide range of partners, including community groups and the voluntary sector as well as colleagues in health and other sectors. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate, at our cost.
