We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Anaesthetist on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Anaesthetist department.
Our client is one of the largest NHS organisations in the country, with an outstanding reputation. They are taking bold, pioneering steps towards delivering a world-class, fully integrated care system for adults. Twice rated Outstanding by the CQC, our client is responsible for delivering a range of community and primary care services and specialist services to Greater Manchester and beyond.
Our client provides a variety of surgical specialities, including the upper GI service to Greater Manchester and a nationally referred Intestinal Failure Unit. They have a well-established CPET service and ERAS pathways for major elective surgery. Data is collected as part of PQUIP, and results are discussed at regular Divisional meetings. The department has an expanding group with an interest in Perioperative Medicine and improving patient outcomes and houses the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences. They also provide cover for various neurosurgical specialities and are continuing to expand. The spinal unit has a nationally referred cohort of patients and performs complex spinal corrective surgery. The department is driven by a collaborative decision-making process between anaesthesia and surgery to optimise outcomes for patients. They are the first Trust in the North West to provide a 7-day Thrombectomy service, which is expected to expand to a 24-hour service shortly. Additionally, they support the NCA orthopaedic centre based nearby, and it is expected that any appointment will involve some work in these areas.
Our client's location is a unique blend of rural countryside with quiet market towns and rolling fields, along with the shopping and nightlife of a cosmopolitan city. It has excellent public and private schools within the catchment area and current motorway and railway links to major cities such as Sheffield, Liverpool, and Birmingham. An excellent international airport is also nearby, making this a prime location with the best of both worlds.
