Skanska is seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to join our expanding infrastructure water team for a flagship project with Anglian Water. This major development, the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant Relocation Project, offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a ground-breaking project that involves designing and building a state-of-the-art waste water treatment facility.
About the Project:
The project encompasses the design and construction of a new greenfield Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW), which includes a Waste Recycling Centre (WRC), Sewage Treatment Centre (STC), tunnels, shafts, landscaping, building architecture, highways re-alignment, major earthworks, and the decommissioning of the existing facility. The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the entire construction phase, ensuring it is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
What you'll do:
1. Leading the Construction Team: Ensure all activities comply with planning approvals, project schedules, and budgets.
2. Team Development: Manage and mentor your construction team, ensuring the design and delivery of both temporary and permanent works are on track and within scope, addressing commercial, environmental, and supply chain considerations.
3. Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Enabling Functions, Design Team, and key stakeholders to deliver best-value solutions, fostering innovation and digital technologies.
4. Procurement & Contract Management: Assist in the selection and management of specialist sub-contractors, ensuring contracts meet time, cost, quality, and safety standards.
5. Health & Safety & Compliance: Oversee compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring risk management, change control, and cost forecasting.
6. Program & Deliverables Management: Lead the creation and coordination of the project’s schedule, deliverables, and client requirements, ensuring all project aspects are on target.
7. Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and report on construction progress, ensuring any issues are addressed to maintain delivery on time and to specification.
What You’ll Bring:
1. A degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
2. Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental Management, with an SMSTS qualification (minimum).
3. A valid CSCS card relevant to the role.
4. Solid leadership experience in managing teams and large-scale projects within the construction or engineering sector.
5. Extensive experience working in the water sector, with a strong understanding of its unique challenges and regulations.
6. Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
7. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, including procurement, commissioning, and CDM regulations.
8. The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and ensure smooth communication across teams and project phases.
9. A focus on sustainability and innovation, with experience implementing solutions that reduce carbon impact and increase biodiversity.
