About the role
Morrison Water Services is recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to work on our Storm Overflow Alliance with Yorkshire Water in Birstall.
As the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of the Commercial Team and will be responsible for the planning, control, management and effective administration of the commercial and financial aspects of the Storm Overflow Alliance with Yorkshire Water
As the Managing Quantity Surveyor your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Lead the commercial function for MWS within the Storm Overflow Alliance, reporting directly to the Alliance Commercial Lead. Providing accurate commercial reporting for all MWS projects / deliverables within the Storm Overflow Alliance.
- Prepare Internal Monthly Cost Value Reports and Margin Analysis
- Manage, assist and advise the on commercial influences around Cost and Value reporting and changes required to ensure profit targets are met
- Ensure cash is received on time and aligned to forecast targets
- WIP management, ensuring kept at optimum level for the contract
- Oversee the procurement and management of sub-contractor applications and payments and other suppliers
- Management of the Early Warning and Compensation Event process
- Cash flow and aged debt reporting
- Lead, support and encourage the commercial staff with their duties (training, mentoring and appraisal)
The Key Requirements
- Preferably degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, RICS level or seeking to become
- Experience in the water and waste industry is essential
- A commercially and contractually astute individual that takes ownership of teams and business unit performance
- Proactive and ready to take action pre-emptively to manage risk and opportunity
- Good eye for detail and challenging to build target costs
- Results driven, capable of working on own initiative and just as importantly supporting the wider team
- A strong leader to build a team who are motivated, supported, driven and effective
- Ability to learn and master client specific software
- Ability to deal with large amounts of data accurately and efficiently
