Key Responsibilities
You will uphold and enhance in-house technical standards, ensuring compliance with local and national legislation, and lead the engineering team while providing mentorship and professional development opportunities. The role includes interpreting technical requirements for tenders, overseeing bid submissions, and establishing technical procedures for continuous improvement. You will approve designs, drawings, and reports to ensure quality, provide technical support, and drive the adoption of emerging technologies. Risk assessments and software maintenance will also fall under your responsibilities, ensuring that design tools remain fit for purpose. Additionally, you'll monitor legislative changes, represent the company at networking events, and support business development initiatives. Your leadership will guide the delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards, while ensuring cross-departmental alignment with client expectations. Key relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry bodies will also be vital.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered or Associate Member of ICE or IStructE and possess strong technical expertise with excellent communication and analytical abilities. You should have proven experience in problem-solving, decision-making, and team management. A broad range of project experience across multiple sectors is essential, along with a commercially minded approach and strong networking capabilities. The ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing demands is key, as is a strong understanding of sustainability practices in engineering design. Proficiency in industry-standard software tools for design and analysis is also required.
