CGI has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to work on a project delivering and supporting mission-critical software.
Please note: Due to the nature of the role, it's not always possible to work from home. We ask that any prospective candidates are willing to travel to our Leatherhead office (Surrey) 3-4 days per week, so please consider this when applying.
All candidates must be eligible to undergo SC clearance should this be required for any projects.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
CGI is delivering a cutting-edge 5G/SatComs project for a high-profile client, including integrating a 5G private network and SatComs links supplied by major operators.
The successful candidate will be part of the infrastructure team implementing the solution, including integrating the constituent parts together. This will include, for example, building VM environments, implementing networking solutions, firewalls, and automated scripting.
The ideal candidate should be keen to learn new technologies as well as apply their own experience to optimize the solution as it is deployed and troubleshoot. You will have direct interaction with the customer to understand their requirements and iterate to achieve the best solution. You will work as part of a wider project team, supported directly by a senior team leader with many years of experience in designing and implementing infrastructure solutions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Creation and maintenance of build and design docs
2. Implementation of infrastructure solutions - CGI lab
3. Implementation of infrastructure solutions - client site
4. Test and validation of solutions
5. Researching new COTS solutions and applying them
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
1. Networking; good understanding of basic networks (UDP/TCP/IP) IPv4, Switching, Routing, etc.
2. Firewalls: Fortinet/PFSense/Juniper: install/configuration/maintenance. Understanding of VPNs
3. VMware/Hyper-V Building/setup and deployment of VM environments
4. Linux Administration Build/configure/maintain
5. Willingness to learn new technologies
Desired competencies for this role:
1. Understanding of 5G/Telecoms background
2. Understanding of satellite communications networks
3. NMS Zabbix/Grafana
