Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Commercial Manager / Estimator / Quantity Surveyor. Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Management:
1. Develop and implement commercial strategies to optimise project profitability and ensure sustainable growth.
2. Oversee contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and conditions while mitigating risks.
3. Monitor project budgets, expenses, and cash flow to maintain financial health and adherence to financial targets.
4. Collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings without compromising quality.
5. Lead commercial negotiations and dispute resolution efforts to achieve favourable outcomes for our client.
2. Estimating:
1. Conduct thorough analysis of project specifications, drawings, and requirements to accurately estimate material, labour, and overhead costs.
2. Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals that align with client expectations and project objectives.
3. Utilise industry-leading software and methodologies to generate precise estimates and cost projections.
4. Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to develop innovative and cost-efficient solutions.
5. Continuously refine estimating processes and methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
3. Quantity Surveying:
1. Perform comprehensive quantity take-offs and measurements to accurately assess project scope and requirements.
2. Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates for tender submissions and project planning.
3. Prepare monthly valuations and applications for payment to be issued to clients.
4. Conduct thorough cost analysis and value engineering assessments to optimize project budgets and resource allocation.
5. Monitor project progress and expenditures, identifying and addressing cost variations and discrepancies.
6. Provide expert advice on contractual matters, variations, claims, and cost control strategies to mitigate risks and maximize profitability.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
2. Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
3. Proven experience in commercial management, estimating, and quantity surveying within the steelwork fabrication industry.
4. Extensive knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and commercial negotiation techniques.
5. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex project specifications and drawings.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively.
8. Professional accreditation or membership with relevant industry bodies (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is advantageous.
