We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Sheffield. In this role, you will take a lead role in managing the costs, risks, and financial performance of ITI Group’s projects, with an emphasis on delivering value for money whilst meeting the required legal, safety, and quality standards. Reporting to the Major Projects Director, you will oversee all financial aspects of large-scale projects, contributing to strategic decision-making, team leadership, and continuous process improvement. The role requires a high level of expertise in cost management, contract negotiation, claims handling, and stakeholder engagement, while ensuring all activities are aligned with the company’s goals and regulatory requirements. You will also mentor and guide junior team members, fostering professional growth within the function. Salary: Up to £38,000 depending upon skills and experience. You will: Successfully complete all identified training both in-house and external, as required. Examine and assess project plans and prepare quantity requirements. Establish, lead and manage the planning, control and contract administration of larger projects. Liaise and work collaboratively with project managers, site managers, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders. Gather and prepare reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other necessary and relevant documents and reviewing them with the appropriate management or personnel. Know, adhere, and advise on contract/legislative conditions. Perform risk, value management and cost control during project delivery. Document relevant changes in design and updating budgets when required – building supporting evidence and submitting change control notices/variations to clients in line with contractual requirements. Provide advice, recommendations, and suggestions to managers and clients on innovative improvements and new strategies. Plan procurement for projects and control spend and payments. Negotiate contracts and work schedules, allocate work to subcontractors, and oversee their work at all stages. Build and maintain excellent customer relationships. Establish appropriate longer-term agreements with suppliers/sub-contractors where this brings a business advantage. Promote and ensure conformity and consistency in the application of the company management process within projects. Demonstrate flexibility and customer focus. Follow all health and safety regulations, procedures and protocols. Provide direction, support, and mentorship to team members, helping them achieve their individual and collective goals. Conduct regular performance reviews (at least twice a year), provide feedback, and support the team in setting clear development goals. Resolve conflicts and handle colleague issues in a fair and timely manner. Set and communicate performance expectations aligned with organisational goals. Track, analyse, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and team performance metrics, participating in group wide Annual talent and performance activities such as calibration. Address and manage ER (absence, conduct etc.) and performance issues promptly and provide support for improvement. Assess, manage and develop the talent and performance of the team. Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss goals, performance, updates, and feedback. Serve as the main point of contact between the team and senior management, ensuring clear communication of company objectives, updates, and feedback. Collaborate with other locations, hubs and functions to ensure cohesive operations and the achievement of cross-functional goals. Identify and manage any role specific training required during the induction period for new colleagues. Identify training, knowledge, skills, experience and opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and advance their careers. Support continuous learning and professional development within the team. Ensure team compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. Look after team’s health, safety and wellbeing, spotting risks so they don’t become an issue, escalating when appropriate. Lead the team through changes in processes, systems, or organisational structure, ensuring a smooth transition. Communicate changes effectively and support the team in adapting to new ways of working. Manage the team's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial constraints. Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings. Manage vacancies within the team, leading recruitment. Any other line manager duties reasonably requested and in line with the requirements of the post. We are looking for: Experience and Knowledge Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Good knowledge of other Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Visio. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Project and Excel. Excellent knowledge of Contract Law and the execution of projects using typical forms of contracts (NEC3/4, IChemE, FIDIC etc). Proven track record in systems delivery. A proven track record in project control / QS role for large £ms Control System. Implementation projects within the engineering industry. Proven track record of contract and change management negotiation. Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar subject. Skills and Abilities Proven project planning and project coordination/control skills. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong commercial, financial and contract management skills, with experience of NEC and other forms of contract. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills – ability to write detailed and concise reports and communicate with clients, subcontractors, and other relevant stakeholders efficiently and effectively. Excellent negotiating skills required to negotiate costs with vendors and subcontractors and ensure the best deals and minimum budget as much as possible. The ability to achieve SC level clearance.
