BBC Audio’s creative teams produce 20,500 shows and make an extraordinary range of content. We're made up of 430+ colleagues who produce over 90 hours of content every single day. We supply programmes, podcasts and music for almost all of the BBC's national radio networks, BBC Sounds and the BBC World Service.
Main Responsibilities
The role requires discretion, judgement, tact, initiative, determination and good writing skills. You’ll need a proven ability to plan and manage multiple demands on your time, as well as being confident to work with a wide range of stakeholders including both BBC and independent radio and television producers, foreign broadcasters, the Palace press teams and the BBC’s archives. Working with those stakeholders you will:
* Clear permissions for re-use of the BBC’s extensive Royal archive.
* Liaise with the Royal Household over requests for interviews and filming.
* Grant permission for programmes makers to access recordings via the Digital Archive.
* Respond to EBU requests for music content by providing it in the correct format for playout and ensuring rights are understood.
* Provide support material, e.g. scripts and concert programmes for BBC programmes being offered.
* Help BBC colleagues to locate support material when using EBU material.
* Build reliable relationships and be the BBC point of contact for the EBU music team.
* Provide administrative support to Controller BBC Audio and his HQ team.
* Provide administrative and financial support to programme teams as required.
While this post will concentrate on the tasks above, PCs may be scheduled to provide administrative and financial support across a wide range of output and this may include planning and forecasting of programme budgets, presenter fee negotiations for one offs and short series, booking and contracting of freelances and casuals as well as checking and processing freelances’ expenses.
Are you the right candidate?
A working knowledge of classical music will be helpful, as will familiarity with VCS Dira! and software programmes for large file transfer. Experience of creating presentations and setting up small events and meetings will also be useful.
