You must hold a current full registration with the General Medical Council and have experience across a broad range of Medical Subspecialties. At least MRCP Part one is essential for this post.
Whipps Cross Hospital serves a local population with a high degree of frailty and within the Barts Health Group is being re-developed to be a centre of excellence for Geriatric Medicine. The department provides for a broad spectrum of sub-specialty areas including Frailty, Acute Geriatrics, Ortho-Geriatrics, Surgical Liaison, Psychiatry Liaison, outpatients, and Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment Clinics and rehabilitation medicine. The department regularly sees a rich mixture of pathology and complex psycho-social issues. The local population contains a significant level of frailty with high rates of dementia and associated delirium.

To run the daily TIA clinic. This involves performing assessments, reviewing imaging, and constructing management plans. There is close consultant supervision, and all questions can be discussed.
To review inpatients in a ward liaison capacity with the support from the consultant body.
To respond to queries and provide advice when asked by other specialties and local GPs.
To perform stroke clinics via telephone or in person for stroke follow-up patients.
To support the ward when possible whilst supporting the junior team for advice and with ward duties when required, attending the weekly stroke multi-disciplinary team meeting where patient cases may require summarizing and discussion and performing ward rounds when required.
To participate in clinical meetings and governance meetings including M&M and academic sessions

Study, teaching and training
Study leave entitlement is equivalent to Higher Medical Trainee allocation (pro rata).

Extensive Research facilities exist at Barts Health NHS Trust and research will be actively encouraged within the Clinical Academic Group and in conjunction with other departments of the hospital and college.

Salary and Conditions of Service
The post is subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service of Barts Health NHS Trust, and also to the National Health Service Pension Regulations.
