Job Summary: Led by investors responsible for assets under management of US$90 trillion, ICGN undertakes leading policy research, as well as advocacy activities, to inspire effective corporate governance and investor stewardship practices worldwide. Our policy work is produced by our Policy Team, together with our member-led committees, and focuses on protecting shareholder rights, as well as promoting strong and effective boards, reliable reporting and best practices in stewardship. We are looking for a Policy Manager with recognised expertise in corporate governance. The role offers the opportunity to shape corporate governance standards and work with leading investors and policymakers worldwide.
Responsibilities
* Thought-leadership: Lead some of our working groups and write publications on emerging issues to help promote good corporate governance and stewardship best practices. Some of these workstreams might involve: a publication on capital allocation; a viewpoint on geopolitics and the role of the board of directors; identifying best practices in stewardship in private equity.
* Advocacy: Write responses to public consultations from regulatory authorities, as well as global and local standard-setters. Participate in engagement with policy-makers, where relevant.
* Communication: Write press-releases and media speaking points on policy-related matters. Speak occasionally at public events.
* Trainings: Share expertise with policy team and act as a mentor for the junior members of the team.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
* University Degree preferably in Corporate Law, Finance or Accounting, with strong academic records. A Master’s degree would be advantageous but not required.
* 6-8 years of work experience, preferably in stewardship (e.g. proxy service provider or investment firm) or corporate governance organisation (e.g. Corporate Governance Code, Institute of Directors).
* Expert in corporate governance and stewardship. Specific knowledge in corporate governance in Asia would be an asset.
* Ability to lead multiple projects with little supervision.
* Excellent writing and research skills, with high level of proficiency in English. Benefits
