About the job:
We are seeking an Interim EHS Manager to assist the Group Safety & Environment Manager in ensuring continual improvement in operational health, safety & environmental governance and growing a culture of Zero Harm. You would be working with the Operations Team to support all employee groups, with a hands-on approach to drive the ownership of safety to a ‘can do’ attitude and be key player in the drive to Zero Accidents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage health and safety, with a firm emphasis on people & safety culture with accountability for day-to-day rhythm and routine processes
* Drive behavioural safety to independent thinking through audits, colleague engagement and ownership working with differing cultures and challenges
* Own monthly Safety Stops with the operations teams, developing toolbox training materials, feedback on hazards and incidents through SAFe-UK with a view to transfer to site leadership teams
* Champion Compliance Calendar’s, engaging the operations teams for timely completion and driving solution-based thinking
* Assist the process of continual improvement in ISO Management Standards (ISO14001 & ISO45001) including Objectives and Targets and workforce engagement
* Lead the development, review and engagement of risk assessments, operational control processes and documentation
* Set the standard for workplace inspections and behavioural safety audits through coaching, demonstrating What Good Looks Like with clear escalation processes and responses
* Undertake incident investigations to determine route cause and corrective actions
* Engage in the tracking, monitoring and continual development of key performance indicators
* Ensure safety & environmental training is delivered to all employees through internal and external mechanisms
About you:
* NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Health & Safety, an Environmental Qualification is desirable.
* Candidates must have experience in a manufacturing organisation
* Membership of IOSH / IEMA preferred, Tech or Charted, ability to deliver IOSH training courses is desirable
* Good communicator, with the ability to positively influence
* A driver for change with an open thinking approach
* Understanding of fast paced decision making with a confidence to challenge safety behaviour in all settings
* Current driving licence as this is a multisite role and travel will be required.
