The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Linux Systems Administrator to join the Specialized United States Infrastructure Operations Organization team in Berkeley, MO.
This position will install, operate, secure and maintain dedicated Program Information Technology Infrastructure that is required to deliver products to our customers.
As a Linux Administrator, your expertise will play a crucial role in integrating logistics, manufacturing, and engineering into a cohesive ecosystem. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of a secure network that supports all tools and, more importantly, the personnel involved in this mission.
This role directly supports our Air Dominance (AD) programs. You will be tasked with installing, operating, securing, and maintaining the dedicated Program Information Technology Infrastructure necessary for delivering products to our customers. We offer Enterprise capabilities within closed networks, encompassing standard office functions, application development stacks, engineering workflows, vulnerability remediation, and more.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Manage all aspects of a Linux environment, including scripting and analyzing computing requirements
2. Perform activities to install, configure and maintain multiplatform systems hardware, software and components
3. Participate in activities to plan, develop, design, and integrate all computer applications
4. Conduct Linux troubleshooting, diagnose and resolve system issues, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of Linux environments
5. Ensure systems conform to architectural objectives
6. Evaluate complex system's production readiness and supportability
7. Perform the restoration of complex computing service operations
8. Perform complex system problem identification and resolution
9. Implement security measures to safeguard systems and data, including firewalls, access controls, and regular updates
10. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to maintain system integrity
This position is expected to be 100% onsite at one of the listed locations.
Basic Qualifications:
* Active Security+ certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
* 3+ years of experience in system administration tasks on Windows and Linux, including security patches and configuration changes
* 3+ years of experience with installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting RHEL 6 or higher
* 3+ years of experience with Windows 7 or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience in packaging, updating, and administering Linux OS, specifically Oracle Linux/RHEL 6 or higher
* 5+ years of experience in installation and integration of Windows and Linux OS, including COTS products
* 5+ years with GRUB, diskless booting, and NFS/storage solutions
* 5+ years with Bash scripting, Kickstart scripts, Puppet, and Ansible
* 5+ years developing shell scripts for automation
* 5+ years collaborating with cross-functional teams to establish standard practices
* 5+ years managing break/fix requests and long-term projects for infrastructure improvement
* 5+ years integrating security solutions like McAfee, Splunk, HBSS
* 5+ years managing user system access and security safeguards

Pay & Benefits: We offer a competitive Total Rewards package, including base pay, variable compensation, health insurance, retirement plans, and more. The pay range is $88,400 – $119,600. Applications accepted until May 02, 2025.
