An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Health Intelligence Analyst to join the Data & Analytics team within the newly established Digital, Data, Technology, Innovation & Value directorate of the NHS Wales Executive.
The work will be wide ranging and varied as the team is tasked with providing a health intelligence service to the range of Directorates within the NHS Wales Executive. This role will have a primary responsibility of supporting a health intelligence programme of work focused on the National Strategic Clinical Networks that sit within the Networks & Planning directorate but will also contribute to the wider remit of the service and react to changing priorities of our partners.
Main duties of the job
The Data & Analytics team encompasses data, analysis, information and knowledge, ensuring decision makers have the right intelligence at the right time to improve the quality, efficacy and efficiency of services to improve patient experience, safety and outcomes.
We are seeking an individual with experience of working in an information environment, who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, and driven to deliver the right intelligence at the right time for our partners. We will provide an environment in which you will be given the opportunity to gain more experience, expand your knowledge and develop new skills as part of a fast-growing team, with a key role to play in ensuring the NHS Wales Executive delivers its objectives.
Your day-to-day role will require you to have a vast array of skills in areas including analytical techniques, data visualisation, negotiation and communication in order to deliver high-profile projects to meet the team's objectives. Where applicable, you will be given a range of responsibilities which may include developing expertise on a specific dataset, analytical method, programming language or Business Intelligence tool. You will also work alongside other senior colleagues to ensure the team embraces and maximises innovative opportunities to be at the forefront of health intelligence in Wales.

Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent professional experience

* Experience of linking complex data sets to derive meaningful analysis.
* Experience of using a range of tools and techniques to deliver health intelligence covering data extraction, data warehouse, data analysis and data presentation.
* Experience, understanding and resolution of data quality issues.
* Experience of providing and presenting highly complex information to clinicians and senior managers.
* Experience of planning workload independently and project management skills.
* Experience of providing specialist advice on highly complex information issues.
* Experience of using business intelligence tools to provide meaningful insight to a range of audiences.
Skills
* Advanced IT and analytical skills with an in-depth knowledge of IT tools/systems such as SQL, business intelligence systems, statistical software and programming languages.
* Experience of using Microsoft Power BI.
