Location: Bristol
Our client, a well-established organisation in the public sector, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll & Pensions Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. As the Payroll & Pensions Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless delivery of payroll and pensions services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and providing exceptional support to staff and customers.
Responsibilities:
1. Support the Deputy Payroll and Pensions Manager in providing effective and efficient payroll and pensions services.
2. Analyse pension statements, ensuring accurate and sufficient contributions for future benefit payments.
3. Resolve payroll and pension issues, following existing policies and regulations to find optimal solutions.
4. Maintain a strong knowledge of regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with payroll and pension transactions.
5. Provide accurate payment processing and administration, including complex payments.
6. Manage employee records, organising documentation associated with payroll adjustments.
7. Generate ad hoc reports and communicate changes to relevant parties.
8. Contribute to projects and manage small-scale projects within the payroll and pension processes.
9. Develop and deliver briefings, training, and presentations as required.
10. Act as an advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion, promoting an inclusive culture.
11. Ensure health and safety policies are followed and champion a safe working environment.
Additional responsibilities specific to the role:
1. Provide pension information and support to staff.
2. Handle pensions administration, including starters, leavers, and changes.
3. Process flexible retirement, phased retirement, and ill-health retirement pensions.
4. Manage additional contributions, such as AVCs and faster accrual.
5. Respond promptly to payroll and pension-related queries.
6. Provide payroll advice and support to staff and customers.
7. Handle allowances, deductions, and employee data changes within the payroll system.
8. Process various payments, including Associate Lecturer and Occasional Associate Lecturer payments.
9. Monitor absence sickness and process sickness pay.
10. Manage payroll for maternity, paternity, adoption pay, and shared parental leave.
11. Present the payroll information at the Welcome Fair.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience in payroll and pensions administration.
2. Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.
3. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Organised and efficient in managing workload and meeting deadlines.
7. Proficient in using payroll and pension systems.
8. High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
