PA for a teenager - £12.40/hr In Leeds LS28 - 6 hrs per week term time & extra 6 school Hol - Pudsey - LS28
Service user has been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD and has communication difficulties. The purpose of the Personal Assistant is to give the family some much-needed respite and an opportunity for quality time together.
Service user is a lovely young boy with high levels of energy. He tends to play alone and be “in his own world”. He requires one-to-one support and supervision at all times.
The PA will support him with both indoor and outdoor activities. At home, he enjoys playing with his animal toys, Lego, doing jigsaws, and is a keen Pokemon fan. He also likes playing games in the garden, such as football or badminton. The PA will support him to access social activities outside of the family home (e.g., trips to the park, bowling, local city museums, local walks, supermarket, etc.) to develop his understanding of the wider community, gain independent social skills, and allow him to engage in activities he enjoys.
MAIN DUTIES
The Personal Assistant will be required to perform the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature:
General
1. To provide him with one-to-one support at home and help him access leisure and creative activities, both indoors and in the garden.
2. To provide him with one-to-one support and guidance in the wider community and to access social and leisure activities.
3. To support him in developing his awareness of health & safety.
4. To support him in developing his sense of road safety and stranger danger.
5. To interact with him to develop his verbal and non-verbal communication skills and social skills.
6. To assist him with personal care, if needed.
7. Any other reasonable requests that may be made.
SUPERVISION
The Personal Assistant will be directed by Mum, who is the employer and accountable in all aspects of their work. The PA must always ask what the employer requires for the service user and not make any assumptions about the assistance needed or how it should be carried out. The PA should not carry out tasks unless discussed first. If unsure about anything, please consult the employer.
Location: My home and the wider community.
Job skills preferred / essential
1. Driving license with Business Insurance desirable.
2. Experience working with children with Autism or similar additional needs is ideal.
3. Local candidates preferred.
4. An interest in sports (football/badminton).
5. An interest in animals, Pokemon, and Lego.
