About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Security Engineer to join CHEC. The Security Engineer is accountable for managing and securing CHEC's cloud infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on device management and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as Cybersecurity and Information Governance Standards (NHS Digital) and ISO 270001.
The successful candidate will focus on securing cloud-based resources, monitoring and managing devices connected to the network, maintaining compliance with industry standards and healthcare-specific privacy and security requirements to ensure the safeguard of patient data and protect critical systems.
We are looking for someone who can:
1. Design, implement, and maintain security controls within Microsoft Azure to ensure the protection of sensitive healthcare data and the secure operation of cloud-based services.
2. Monitor and manage Azure Security Centre, Azure Defender, and other native Azure security tools to detect and mitigate security threats.
3. Establish security baselines, policies, and compliance measures across Azure infrastructure.
4. Leverage Cloud Native services such as Serverless Architecture to modernize and make the application/platform scalable.
5. Implement and manage device security policies using Azure-based tools such as Intune, Purview Compliance, Security Centre, and Azure Entra.
6. Ensure secure configuration and management of medical devices, mobile devices, and devices connected to the cloud and on-premises environments.
7. Assist in audits and risk assessments related to cloud and device security, preparing reports and documentation required for regulatory compliance.
8. Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure secure cloud deployment, data residency, and privacy protections in line with healthcare requirements.
9. Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to detect suspicious activity, breaches, or non-compliant actions across cloud resources and connected devices.
10. Investigate and respond to security incidents involving cloud infrastructure, endpoints, or medical devices, coordinating remediation efforts and documenting findings.
What you'll bring to the role:
1. Extensive experience with maintaining and supporting IT systems, networks, and infrastructures.
2. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office365, Azure, and related solutions.
3. Proficiency in managing secure network infrastructures, including familiarity with Cisco Meraki products.
4. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
5. Strong analytical skills to assess system performance and implement improvements.
6. Capability to interpret and translate technical information to meet user and organisational needs.
