We are a leading supplier of quality engine and electrical components for the independent aftermarket car parts industry. Established in 1996, we are now part of the global manufacturing group ElringKlinger.
Located on Team Valley Trading Estate, Elring Parts Ltd is recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Officer.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Proactively support and consult and advise employees, managers on all concerns regarding the safety-related design of workplaces, including ergonomic considerations for work processes.
2. Designing and planning of safety training based on the risk assessments and safety instructions as well as support of the managers in their implementation.
3. Supporting managers in the preparation and regular review of risk assessments, method statements, site inspections and audits.
4. Manage, chair and devise agenda for health and safety meetings, ensuring minutes are circulated and actions carried out.
5. Responsible for the implementation and maintaining of a system to perform and monitor of legal required health & safety trainings.
6. Maintain the HS&E systems.
7. Responsible for monitoring legal compliance with health and safety legislation throughout the plant by planning and carrying out site inspections (audits) including documentation, reporting duties etc.
8. Coordinate and analysing health and safety incidents, and investigations (accidents, near misses etc) including the necessary reporting to site managers, as well as establishing root cause, definition and monitoring of corrective actions and the lessons learned process.
9. Support environmental initiatives, including audits, waste management, and pollution control.
10. Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
11. Coordinate PPE for employees, visitors etc as required.
12. Support managers and employees with Return To Work risk assessments as required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* IEMA Foundation course in Environmental Management (Desired)
* Excellent communication skills including the delivery of training packages to an audience.
* Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
* Numerate and literate.
* Flexible - Work individually or as part of a team.
* Must be a self-starter, capable of actively identifying HSE issues and then working them through to a successful conclusion.
* Must be able to manage time and workload.
* Experience of environmental, health and safety management in a similar organisation.
* Internal auditing experience.
* Good understanding of health and safety legal obligations.
