About the Opportunity We are recruiting for an experienced Risk Controller to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK. Heysham 1 is a nuclear power station on the north west coast of England near Lancaster. Heysham is the only site in the UK to have two operating nuclear power stations. Since 1983 Heysham 1 has generated 243 TWh of zero carbon electricity, which is enough to power every home in Lancashire for 119 years. The Risk Controller is responsible for monitoring and reporting the risks, issues and mitigations associated with large and/or complex projects. Reporting to the Estimating and Risk Group Head you will be responsible for the following: - Identifying the risk exposure facing the project or projects responsible for. - Understanding the opportunities as well as the threats facing the project, and report these to the Project Manager as required. - Prioritising risks according to impact and probability of occurrence. - Applying qualitative and quantitative risk techniques that enable the effective identification, evaluation and mitigation of risk(s). - Minimum of HNC/HND ideally in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience. - Professional membership of an appropriate institution (e.g. ACostE or equivalent). - Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation. - Knowledge of developing a risk strategy and plan and experience of producing and maintaining risk registers across a range of project areas.
