Job Description:
We are a Yorkshire charity with over 30 years of experience of working alongside disabled people, helping them to access and enjoy the countryside. We accomplish this through a variety of outdoor activities and the provision of information, training, and advice for all.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Officer, and working alongside the Fundraising Manager and other staff, the Finance Officer is responsible for the timely and accurate transactional financial record keeping of the Charity. The Finance Officer also supports the Treasurer and other Trustees to deliver the Charity’s financial and other regulatory reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
1. First point of contact for all finance related queries, ensuring excellent customer service is provided.
2. Take ownership of queries by ensuring resolution or escalation, and adherence to appropriate legislation and Charity policies.
3. Liaising with and providing information to the Charity’s external bookkeepers, independent examiner, and Trustees as required.
4. Detailed recording of grants, gift aid, and other income to ensure complete and accurate revenue and expense recognition in the accounts.
5. Assisting with grant submissions and gift aid claims.
6. Ownership of the complete sales invoicing process from raising through to collection.
7. Monitoring of procurement contracts, suppliers and contractors, ensuring appropriate details are maintained for compliance purposes.
8. Monitoring and control of purchase orders ensuring adherence to financial policy.
9. Checking and recording of all supplier invoices ensuring correct approvals before payment.
10. Cash management including preparation of payment proposals for review, and banking of cash and cheques.
11. Management of the Charity’s petty cash process, including receipt review and fund replenishment.
12. Collation of payroll data and information, and onward provision to the external payroll provider.
13. Administer the Charity’s charge card programme, ensuring card allocations and expenditure receipts are in line with policy, and dealt with accurately and in a timely manner.
14. Support the Chief Officer and Trustees with the annual budget process and ad-hoc reporting as required.

Candidate Requirements
1. High level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
2. Demonstrable numeracy skills e.g. maths GCSE or equivalent.
3. Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office packages.
4. Ability to work under own initiative with minimal supervision.
5. Ability to work as part of a team.
6. Ability to prioritise and manage own workload in order to meet deadlines.
7. Accounting qualification (studier, member, QBE) would be beneficial but is not a necessity.
