JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking to recruit a team of Health Physics monitors to carry out Routine and Non-Routine Operations on the Windscale site at Sellafield. They will be expected to cover both facilities on the site as required, offering Health Physics support.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide advice around radiological protection, referring upwards where appropriate and as agreed.
2. Produce survey sheets, reports, presentations and data in an understandable manner in order to support management.
3. Work with other specialists (e.g. Advisors and Analysts) to share findings and identify trends to develop a holistic picture of issues, concerns, good practice and areas for improvement in EHSS&Q culture and performance.
4. Ensure the specialist advice provided is proportionate and ensures compliance with Company and external requirements.
5. Follow through on advice provided, to ensure that it is implemented in a way that provides a suitable solution to the original problem identified.
6. Attend all training courses to maintain a high standard within the role of Health Physics monitor.
7. Provide an emergency response for Health Physics matters.
8. Report issues and behaviours which cause concern in the workplace.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Essential Criteria for Health Physics Monitor:
1. City and Guilds Level 1 in Radiation Protection or NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Protection.
2. Experience working as a Health Physics monitor in a nuclear facility.
3. Good written and verbal communication skills.
4. Knowledge of Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, Environmental Permitting Regulations (amended) 2011 & Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Desirable Criteria:
1. IOSH working safely.
2. Experience of Central Lab, Windscale Operations or equivalent Sellafield Limited plant.
3. Good influencing, presentational and communication skills.
4. Attention to detail and the ability to interpret regulations.
