Main duties of the job
What you'll be responsible for:
1. Assessing and monitoring patient conditions and arranging diagnostic tests
2. Recognising deterioration in the physical or mental condition of a patient and taking appropriate action / escalation
3. Recognising, responding to, and managing emergency situations
4. Displaying excellent analytical ability and sound decision making in changing clinical situations
5. Recognising limitations and escalating concerns
6. The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above

What you can add:
7. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the provision of health care for children and young people, aged 2-19 years, with severe/profound and multiple learning and physical difficulties. This will be achieved by providing expert training, advice and support to the school staff, Parents and Carers.
8. The senior nurse will take responsibility for managing and overseeing the school nurse and assistant practitioner within their school team
9. Develop and maintain communication with people about complex, highly sensitive matters and/or in a difficult situation
10. Have some knowledge of and instils team approach to be able to use alternative communication means used by the children makaton, PECs
11. Responsible for communicating and receiving sensitive, complex, and sometimes contentious information relating to children and young people, relatives, and carers whilst ensuring confidentiality. Will use developed persuasive, motivational, negotiating skills, where agreement and cooperation is required in hostile antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere or were there may be barriers to understanding.
12. Establish effective, appropriate communication processes with parents/guardians and carers.
13. Communicate effectively with a wide range of health, education and social care professionals across professional boundaries. Responsible for communicating information both within the organisation and outside it.
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.
What you'll need:
14. RN(Adult),RN(Child)or RSCN, RN (LD)
15. With specific childrens experience and learning disability experience.
16. Mentor preparation
17. Evidence of broad clinical experiences
18. Management/leadership qualification
19. Minimum of 3 years post registration experience
20. Experience of staff management
21. Evidence of professional development
22. Good understanding of current nursing workforce issues
23. Clear understanding of community health services
24. Clear understanding of community health services
25. Experienced Clinical Nurse.
26. Ability to work well in stressful situations
27. Experience of initiating and participating in clinical audit
28. Good understanding of current nursing workforce issues
