Therapy Radiographer Band 6 – Specialist Practitioner 37.5 hrs (Permanent)
Applications are invited from experienced radiographers to join our dynamic team here at Torbay Oncology Centre. You will be HCPC registered.
You will have a professional and practical attitude, working with confidence increasing your experience with advanced techniques and technologies.
Hours of work may be flexible, and will reflect the needs of the department. The person appointed will be required to work shift patterns to cover extended working days, machine service days in addition to bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide safe and accurate highly specialised radiotherapy planning and treatment to patients to a broad range of tumour sites.
2. To support the team leader in the day-to-day management of patient workflow, assisting in the organisation and management of the clinical workload.
3. This post is rotational, and competency driven across treatment delivery and treatment planning which is radiographer led.
4. There will be a requirement to work flexibly as the service demands.
Working for our organisation
Torbay provides cancer services to the people of South Devon, a population of approximately 320,000 which generates some 1200 new referrals per year.
The department has two Elekta Versa HD matched linear accelerators, Pinnacle 3D planning system, a new dedicated wide bore CT for treatment planning with 4DCT.
We have a Support and Information Radiographer, Urology Specialist Radiographer, Gynae Specialist Radiographer and Research Radiographer in post. Radiographers have also undertaken independent subscribing.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. DCR(T) or BSc (Hons) Therapy Radiography
2. Completion of Preceptorship period or appropriate previous experience at band 5
3. Audit Training
4. Specialist knowledge across a range of treatment and pre-treatment activities
5. Able to decide optimum beam arrangement given a range of (often conflicting) considerations
6. Demonstrate knowledge of radiotherapy equipment QA to ensure its safe use
7. Experience in Portal Imaging and CBCT
8. Able to manipulate patients to get them into the optimum position for treatment

Qualifications
* DCR(T) or BSc (Hons) Therapy Radiography Completion of Preceptorship period or appropriate previous experience at band 5.
* HCPC Registered
* Specialist training in dosimetry via university modules or in house training/willingness to undergo training.
* Audit Training
Knowledge and Experience
* Robust general knowledge of CT anatomy
* Specialist knowledge across a range of treatment and pre-treatment activities
* Able to decide optimum beam arrangement given a range of (often conflicting) considerations.
* Able to communicate complex condition/treatment related information requiring empathy, sensitivity and reassurance (to patients and carers)
* IT competent
* Good organisation and time management skills
* Demonstrate knowledge and ability to ensure compliance with quality system and ISO9001:2015
* Knowledge and application of the regulations related to obtaining informed consent
* Experience with IGRT and Use of IMRT and IGRT
* Work flexibly in a variety of situations and participate in shift work as required. Work confidently within the multidisciplinary team
* Demonstrate knowledge of radiotherapy equipment QA to ensure its safe use
