The role
As a Dose and Shielding Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical solutions to clients, ensuring safety and efficiency in radiation protection. You will lead and manage dose and shielding projects, contribute to business development, and support multidisciplinary teams tackling complex safety challenges.

Alongside a competitive Salary, you will also be entitled to Private Medical Insurance (Single, Partner, and Family levels), Non-Contributory Pension Scheme, 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), increasing by 1 day per year of service (up to 30 days)
Your duties and Responsibilities
Manage dose and shielding projects and provide technical leadership.
Deliver expert knowledge of dose and shielding safety assessments, staying up to date with industry developments.
Support multi-disciplinary teams in addressing safety challenges.
Use industry-recognized radiation transport software such as MCNP, ATILLA, SCALE, FLUKA, and MicroShield.
Identify and develop new business opportunities, contributing to bids and proposals.
Work closely with the wider team to ensure high-quality and timely project delivery.
Develop asset management plans and monitor performance.
Provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members.
Enhance radiation protection and safety processes.You will have the following qualifications and experience
A relevant degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
Proven experience in radiation shielding and dose assessment within the nuclear industry.
Extensive experience in radiation transport-based codes such as MCNP, ATILLA, SCALE, FLUKA, and MicroShield.
Strong knowledge of dose and shielding safety assessments, including advanced assessment techniques.
A working knowledge of nuclear criticality would be beneficial.
Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to undergo security vetting.The setting for the role Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
