Senior Therapist (Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist)
Sussex Community Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to the Hospital Rapid Discharge Team at Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath. This role would suit a practitioner with highly developed leadership and people skills, who are able to balance clinical and non-clinical tasks within a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team with a clear vision for the future development of the service and staff. Candidates should be skilled in the assessment and treatment of patients presenting within an A&E department.
Main duties of the job
1. To comprehend the acuity of patients within the front door setting, understanding and facilitating complex hospital discharges ensuring patient flow.
2. To complete patient assessments, consider clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients who may have acute complex and/or chronic presentation, under different specialities.
3. To provide an effective high-quality service to all patients and assist with the teaching to all members of the team including students.
4. To contribute to service development within therapies and the wider MDT.
5. To implement policy and policy changes in own clinical area and to assist with the setting and monitoring of standards of practice.
6. To maintain close collaborative working between the multi-disciplinary team.
7. To link day-to-day working with UHSx teams within the front door service.

Job responsibilities
1. Supervision and Appraisal - Review and reflect on your own practice through regular participation in clinical supervision and annual appraisal with the Team Lead and/or a nominated supervisor.
2. To provide clinical supervision for staff at Band 2 to 5.
3. To support the operational lead with the appraisal of staff at band 2 to 5.
4. Training staff and students - To support the training and development of the other members of the team and students of all disciplines as required.
5. Equipment responsibility - To ensure the maintenance of assessment and treatment equipment in a satisfactory condition, and ensure careful use and return of same, cleaned, where appropriate. Report any suspect or faulty equipment to the Team Lead.
6. Professional development - To maintain professional registration as a physiotherapist, with the HCPC, and show proof of registration to the Team Lead when requested.
7. Continual Professional Development - To undertake professional training that may be required by the Trust and to undertake relevant activities to meet the objectives identified with your clinical and line managers.
8. Personal management - To exercise good personal time management, punctuality, and consistent reliable attendance.
9. Quality and Development - To participate in service development, service audit, and outcome measurement to ensure that quality is maintained.
10. Best Practice - To keep up to date with current guidelines relating to your field of work to ensure best practice is maintained.
11. Undertake clerical duties as required including inputting of information on to IT databases.
12. Knowledge and Skills - To develop and maintain a high standard of specialised professional knowledge and skills by different means; e.g. training, reading, reflection, peer support.
13. To attend mandatory and statutory training as required.

Qualifications
* Qualified Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist with at least 5 years experience
* HCPC Registration
Experience
* Experience of supervising junior staff, assistants, and students
* Experience of teaching to wider specialist interest groups
Skills and Knowledge
* Experience within specialism underpinned by theory and specific therapeutic knowledge
* Experience of using assessment tools relevant to client group including CGA's
* Member of a specialist interest group
