Are you passionate about supporting the clinical education of Occupational Therapists in the workplace?
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Therapy Team in a 12 month secondment / fixed term contract role to support the clinical education and clinical skills development of occupational therapists and occupational therapy students / apprentices in the workplace.
Applicants should have a compassionate leadership style and be able to adapt teaching / education strategies for the individuals they are supporting.
Experience as a clinical supervisor and practice supervisor is essential.
The post is open to those wishing to work part time, full time and / or flexible hours.
Main duties of the job
This role will work with a high level of autonomy to provide clinical education to a wide range of occupational therapists and occupational therapy learners.
The role will focus on developing clinical skills of occupational therapists during their probation and preceptorship period and will have close working relationships within the therapy department and AHP Education Team.
The post holder will provide support in the clinical environment as well as developing and supporting education programmes and resources.

Education and qualifications:
Essential
1. Occupational Therapy Degree / Diploma.
2. HCPC Registration.
3. Practice Supervisor / Educator Qualification.
Desirable
1. Post graduate qualification in education i.e. MSc, PG Cert, Professional Advocacy Level 7.
2. Member of Professional Body (RCOT).
Knowledge:
Essential
1. Knowledge of HCPC standards of proficiency for Occupational Therapists.
2. Knowledge of Occupational Therapy Workforce challenges at National / Regional / Local level.
3. Knowledge of Preceptorship and its purpose.
4. Knowledge of Probationary Period Processes.
5. Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Therapy process and its implementation across a range of clinical specialities.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of AHP Preceptorship Framework.
2. Knowledge / Willingness to learn the challenges faced by students, internationally educated and newly qualified Occupational Therapists.
3. Knowledge of Quality Improvement methodology.
4. Knowledge of Freedom to Speak Up.
Experience:

1. Clinical experience across a variety of acute specialities.
2. Experience as a Practice Placement Supervisor.
3. Extensive experience of clinical supervision with qualified and non-qualified staff.
