This is a high-priority role, and you will be a key part of the organization’s success.
As the legal adviser to the Board, you will be the principal adviser to the Chief Executive on all legal matters, including:
General Overview:
1. Lead all legal, commercial, and corporate matters, ensuring good governance and high standards in managing the Group’s work and resources.
2. Provide ad-hoc legal advice to the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Chief Executive, and Executive Committee, either directly or through external legal providers.
3. Offer expert and strategic legal advice to the Board.
4. Review, negotiate, and draft various commercial contracts and agreements (technology, consulting, procurement, advertising/marketing, data protection, employment, etc.).
5. Manage the organization’s trademark/IP portfolio and advise staff on intellectual property issues, including licensing of images and content.
6. Create policies, procedures, and systems for legal compliance.
7. Oversee contract management processes to ensure they are current and effective.
8. Review grant agreements and reports, advising staff on legal aspects of grantmaking.
9. Represent or oversee the organization’s representation in judicial and administrative proceedings and negotiations.
10. Select and retain outside counsel as needed for legal opinions, claims, litigation, or specialized legal matters.
11. Stay informed about applicable laws and advise staff accordingly.
