Clinical Support Worker - Outpatient Department

A position has arisen in the Community Diagnostic Centre at Westmorland General Hospital for a Clinical Support Worker Band 3.
The post will be 20 hours per week. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team providing high-quality, compassionate, patient-focused care within the new community diagnostic centre & Main Outpatients based at WGH. The post holder will be required to hold the Phlebotomy skill to cover the Phlebotomy Clinics held in the Community Diagnostic Centre Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
Working under supervision, you will be required to work flexibly within the team to support clinical service delivery within the department.
You must possess excellent communication, IT, and customer care skills and demonstrate an ability to work both independently and as part of the wider team. It would be desirable if you possessed an NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care. Previous experience in outpatients is an advantage but not essential.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as several community healthcare premises.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. Additionally, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals, and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health, and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.

Person Specification
Education
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills
* ECDL or equivalent
* Willingness to undertake NVQ Level 3 in a care-related area.
* Completed Trust's Support Worker Development Programme.
Experience
* Previous experience in a care environment
* Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
* Previous experience within the designated area
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance, understanding of confidentiality
* Basic IT skills
* Caring for people
* Awareness of the NHS structure and current issues
