Who are Acis Group?
We began as a social landlord providing homes in West Lindsey. Now we provide over 7,000 affordable homes across the East Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber. Our homes include ones for affordable rent, Shared Ownership, people aged 55 and over and supported housing – but now, we do so much more. We take our roles in our customer’s lives seriously, putting them first in everything we do. And as part of that we’ve grown to provide wider services to truly support the communities in which we work.
In addition, there are over 4,000 learners a year are supported in local communities stretching from Sheffield to Mablethorpe – with everything from entry level qualifications, arts and wellbeing courses through to employability support to help people fulfil their potential. This is through Riverside Training, our employment and skills team, and CLIP, an education provider.
Our tutor roles are wide and varied. Every tutor has a core subject specialism they can teach and are qualified in to deliver through numerous levels so we can offer progression to our customers. Additionally, all deliver a wide and varied curriculum around life skills, enrichment, wellbeing and employability – all core to our curriculum for all. We help you build skills in these areas, but it is expected that all our tutors are comfortable with, and can deliver to these.
As a maths Tutor, some of your duties might include:
1. Delivering maths GCSE and Functional Skills to our Flare learners (16-18y/o) and to our adult learners
2. Delivering Multiply courses to our adult learners to re-engage people back into maths
3. Developing skills and expertise within your area of specialism, to offer more for our learners.
4. Contributing to curriculum development across your subject areas of expertise, bringing innovation, energy and excitement to both the subject matter and our style of teaching to help our learners thrive.
5. Owning your learners end to end – ensuring attendance, achievement and progression, in all courses and programmes. This may include 1-2-1 sessions with those learners who need additional support.
6. Supporting recruitment across all our programmes, not just the courses you deliver, working with the engagement team to ensure progression targets are met following completion on your course.
7. Being responsible for Quality Assurance of your teaching to ensure our customers receive the best service possible.
8. Welcoming people from across the team into the teaching setting to observe learning, get involved and help learners achieve.
9. Planning, preparing, delivering and evaluating all the courses you lead.
10. Preparing plans, schemes of work and learning materials for each session, making them available for monitoring or lesson observation visits and maintaining them.
11. Completing learner records and monitoring reports in line with programme requirements, marking and assessing learners’ work, monitoring their progress to ensure our learners are prepared for exams and/or course accreditation.
12. developing links with partners and employers in order to develop new opportunities for learners
13. identifying progression opportunities - further learning, apprenticeships or employment for all learners
14. Ensuring that learners complete all admin documentation including enrolment forms and learner feedback.
What we need form you:
15. Teaching qualification appropriate for working in Post 16 Sector and Adult Learning Sector, and/or willingness to undergo further training – preferably PGCE/Cert Ed/QTS
16. L3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS) or the equivalent would be considered an advantage for an applicant without a formal qualification.
17. Maths qualification (to at least Level 4 equivalent), or an in-depth knowledge and substantial experience in the subject area.
18. Full awareness of the needs of underachieving and disengaged young people and to develop strategies to engage them
19. A willingness and ability to deliver a range of courses beyond your primary area of expertise with an enthusiasm to develop your skills to adapt our delivery to needs of our learners.
20. Experience of teaching/training or working with groups of adults in appropriate field.
21. An understanding of the principles underpinning teaching adults, i.e. planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation of learning.
22. An awareness of different learning strategies and teaching methods suitable for teaching a diverse range of abilities.
23. Effective oral and written communication, numeracy and interpersonal qualifications & skills to communicate effectively with staff and learners alike
